Community Alert

The Chicago Police Department is investigating an indecent solicitation of a child that occurred in the parking lot of Franklin School, 225 W. Evergreen, on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 3:45PM.  A male subject attempted to lure a young child into his vehicle by telling the child that he "had candy and toys."

The offender is described as a white male, 40-50 years of age, wearing a black and white baseball cap.  He was seen driving a red pick up truck (unknown make and model) with a partial plate #  "R8611" (state unknown).  He drove westbound on Goethe from the parking lot after being observed.

Advise parents, students, friends and neighbors of this incident. 
Advise children to never talk to strangers and to run and scream if approached by strangers.
Advise children to never go with any stranger or into any vehicle.
Whenever possible, have children walk with a friend.
Advise children to avoid isolated shortcuts and to be aware of their surroundings.
